I stuck with low carb for a few days and then fell back off the wagon yesterday. I’m feeling quite a bit of stress at work. I’m taking on lots of new responsibilities and the guy who is the expert in these areas suddenly left the company. No documentation, no notes, no nothing. To top it off, the next most knowledgeable guy is on vacation in India for 6 weeks. It is leaving me wondering how I’m going to pick up the knowledge I need.
Of course, I’ve turned back to food for comfort and stopped lifting weights for a week. I finally lifted again tonight and now I’m feeling a lot better. I’m going to find my way through this rough spot. I realized that I have an incredible opportunity to succeed on my own terms and really show what I can do. It may get a little hairy, but the fact that I’m out of my comfort zone is a good thing. I know that I’m being stretched and growing. It is scary, and it kinds of feels like I’m learning how to walk again for the first time, but at 35 years of age, I’ve done things that I’m sure no one believed I would do when I was a kid. I’m also looking my fear square in the eye, saying “hello there, old friend” and inviting it to walk alongside of me. No more running from fear. Fear is a useful emotion that tells you that you need to be on your toes. If you embrace your fear, you will find that it is a coin whose other side is courage. Flip your fear over, smack its ass, and it becomes courage. The more you do this, the stronger you will become. A real man doesn’t pretend that he isn’t afraid, he doesn’t deny his fear. He tackles it head on. He makes fear his friend, and he uses it as a growth mechanism.
At any rate, I’m on vacation myself until January 2nd, so I’m going to forget about work, put my attention on my family, the holidays, and self-improvement, and get out of this funk I’ve been in.
Speaking of which, I’ve recently purchased a program from Bob Proctor and Mary Morrissey called the 11 Forgotten Laws. I’ve found it very, very inspirational. I’m not going to link to it. If you want it, Google it. I will say that Bob Proctor keeps outdoing himself. I’ve seen several of his video products, seen him in the Secret, listened to several of his audio programs, etc. He is the real deal. Something about the man just speaks wisdom and truth. I’m a huge fan.
Something else I’d like to recommend is “What the Bleep Do We Know?” The question is, how far down the rabbit hole do you wanna go?
